Always Getting Better

10 11 2011

As you know I am obsessed with all change & updates with any social media networking site.

This week Twitter launched their NEW ACTIVITY tab and Facebook started rolling out their new Insights… and it’s super #sexy!

Please check out my notes & share your geeky thoughts with me ;-)

Size doesn’t Matter

7 08 2011

“We have over 2,000 Likes!”
What does this mean to your brand?

“Not sure”
What have you learned from these 2,000 Likes?

“What do you mean”
Have you had any “ROI” moments with these 2,000 Likes?

“You can’t get “ROI” from Facebook… we just know we have 2,000 Likes! YEAH!!”
So why are you so proud of this number?

“Because that’s all anyone cares about is the number…it’s all about who has the most Likes! Duh!”
#PunchMeInFace

This is an example of the kind of Social Media Marketing we are displaying and if we keep making this “number” so important to this media… it will die!

Your Likes/Fans/Followers are NOT just numbers, they are real people that can give you real ROI. If you keep treating them like numbers you will NEVER build that relationship with your one number audience. If you are always worrying about reaching that next 1k mark on Facebook… than you are showing that you no longer care about those first 100 loyal fans. This number doesn’t matter to those who believe in your brand, this number only matters to you… and last time I checked you need them to care about your marketing message.

Let’s make this new media a place where we learn and interact with our fans, let’s make them our friends and let’s give them what they want! This is not high school or a game of “Who has the highest Number”, this is a place to mingle & listen to everyone in the world. Use their comments, their tweets and most of all their loyalty to grow your online presents! Don’t give them a number, give them “that moment” with your brand.

Instead of spending all your time worrying about how you can get that number up, go back to Joe Smith who had a great experience with your company and see how he’s doing. This method will go along way with your fans and you will see a much better growth number this way.

I don’t want to share all my #secretsauce tips with you… I just wanted to share my two cents on this annoying trend. So next time you want to shout at the top of your lungs how many Likes you have, stop and talk about your 1-on-1 moments you have with real people.

It’s not the size of the boat but the motion in the ocean ;-)

Sharing is Caring

10 05 2011

Some impressive updates have been made in the last week…

UNO: Below is a screen grab of a fancy updated window that pops up when you want to “Share this Photo/Link” with your network. This sharing platform has been with us for a long time BUT recently got some added features (which most likely came from a 12am Hack-A-thon at Facebook)

DOS: Image below you can see the #awesomesauce features…
“Share: On your own Wall” – means it will be posted on your Wall and seen in the News Feed to your friends at that moment (and randomly in the “Most Recent”)
“Share: On a friend’s Wall” – this one explains itself BUT super useful for when you just want to share it with certain friends. This add-on will help you not flood your Wall with tons of links/photos but yet still “share the love”
“Share: In a Group” – what a great option for all your group freaks ;-) again pin pointing exactly what you want your audience to see
“Share: In a private Message” – best for last… this feature was built just for all you “private” people ;-) select this and than select the friends you want to “Facebook” email the information to

With these #awesomesauce updates there is know NO excuse for you NOT to share companies updates with your friends and family…. Facebook has once again done it (of course) made me one #happypanda

They Get It

4 02 2011

Sometimes we think too hard about what content will be most engaging for our social media networks… when really we don’t need to think so hard it gives us a nose bleed. It’s all about thinking how our customers think and how they connect and/or use our product. Brands need to stop shouting at the top of their lungs, on their Facebook page about themselves… ask yourself  ”why is my brand in business  right now” it’s because of YOUR CUSTOMERS! ((DUH!!)) So let’s talk to them,  let’s learn about them, let’s show them that we’re real people too!

I want to share an example of an A++ company that “Get’s It” Now @nicolecshaffer is going to tell me “@paigeiam you’re obsessed with @oreo” but honestly they ROCK not only when eating them but following them online

Now if  you don’t follow Oreo, please stop what you’re doing right now and follow them on Twitter and LIKE them on Facebook because today I just witnessed the BEST post they have ever done (well they do a lot of great posting but this one is my favorite) Check it out:

Insane right?!!? Within minutes they had over 2,000 Likes and almost 1,000 comments… AWESOME SAUCE!!  They are really thinking about how people eat their cookies… they know that everyone dunks their cookies and everyone ALWAYS dunks their Oreos… they nailed this on the head  because the milk after all your cookies being dunked in is TRUELY the best ever (.com) Who wouldn’t connect and most importantly ENGAGE on this post!!! AND it doesn’t stop there… check out their Twitter feed :) almost every tweet is an @message to someone that is an Oreo fan AND AND it’s nothing crazy! They responded to some tweeps with the simplest but most engaging tweets.. check them out:

The point to this blog post is SIMPLIFY your thinking, step back and put yourself in your customers shoes.

Ahhhh I can’t express how happy and excited something like this makes me

Engaging Content

25 01 2011

We’re always wondering what social media content will stick with friends & fans… well I found it! Please use this very professional tweet post as an example of what will be GREAT engaging content.

Below are screen grabs of the engagement I got seconds/minutes after this tweet…and they kept coming :-) ((lmao))
